该课程是一门语言拓展课和基础教育课，主要针对已通过大学英语四级考试的二年级本科生。
该课程旨在提高学生的跨文化交际意识和能力，培养学生的全球意识，以及加深对不同文化核心价值观的理解。该课程也有助于提高学生的语言能力，使学生在实际运用语言时更加自如。通过精心设计的模拟场景和案例分析有效提高学生的参与度，使学生真正成为学习活动的主体。本课程采用翻转课堂、混合式教学等方式，强调启发式讲授、批判式讨论和探究性学习。小班教学的基础上，推行小组学习与小组任务机制，切实提高学习效率，以期达到良好的学习效果。
课程内容：文化的本质与特征；交际与跨文化交际；跨文化交际中的障碍；语言与文化；语言交际风格；语言多样性；文化模式等。
教学目的：提高学生的跨文化交际意识，培养跨文化交际能力；使学生能够较为客观、系统、全面地认识英语国家的文化，有效拓宽学生的国际视野。引导学生探讨不同文化核心价值观的差异以及原因；在进行文化对比和分析的同时加深对本国文化的理解；讲好中国故事，提高文化自信，提升爱国意识，立德树人；培养学生的全球意识，了解国际发展趋势和中国发展所处的国际环境。
This course is a language extension and foundational education course aimed at second-year undergraduate students who have passed CET-4. The course aims to enhance students' cross-cultural communication awareness and abilities, cultivate their global awareness, and deepen their understanding of different cultural core values. The course also helps improve students' language skills, making them more proficient in practical language use. Through carefully designed simulation scenarios and case analyses, student engagement is effectively increased, making them the true protagonists of the learning activities. The course adopts flipped classroom and blended learning methods, emphasizing heuristic teaching, critical discussions, and inquiry-based learning. Based on small-class teaching, the course implements a small group learning and task mechanism to improve learning efficiency and achieve good learning outcomes.
The course content covers the nature and characteristics of culture, communication and cross-cultural communication, barriers in cross-cultural communication, language and culture, language communication styles, language diversity, cultural patterns, and more.
The teaching objectives are to enhance students' cross-cultural communication awareness, develop their cross-cultural communication abilities, enable them to objectively, systematically, and comprehensively understand the culture of English-speaking countries, effectively broaden their international perspectives, guide students in exploring the differences and reasons behind different cultural core values, deepen their understanding of their own culture while conducting cultural comparisons and analyses, tell the story of China well, enhance cultural confidence, promote patriotism, and cultivate global awareness by understanding international development trends and China's international environment.
