Security is a high priority for hospitality and tourism industry and its managers.

Protecting people, property and assets requires security personnel to be well trained and observant to handle varied situations ranging from minor to major cases.

This can be achieved by establishing the adequate security procedures, handling employee security issues, emergency management and media relations.

Security procedures are not always static, they are continually reviewed and when necessary the property should update its procedures to meet changing security needs.

Several areas such as guestrooms, public areas, perimeter control, locks, access and many more are considered in a property’s security program.

Security should be recognized as a management tool. The protection of guests, employees and assets requires managers and all other employees to be constantly alert to possible security breaches.

The security services can be managed directly by the property or can be outsourced to a third party specialized companies.
