Unit learning objectives:

  • Via watching instructional videos and studying writing samples, you will be able to identify and analyze the key language features and structural elements of classified advertisements, including headline, body copy, and contact information, thus understanding how each component contributes to the overall effectiveness of the advertisement.

  • Via group discussion, writing exercises in class and guidance from the instructor, you will be able to employ descriptive language and appropriate details to create vivid imagery in classified advertisement descriptions for a specific product or service, demonstrating effective use of persuasive language and concise messaging.

  • By comparing different writing samples in group discussions and completing individual writing tasts for various types of classified ads, you will be able to demonstrate the ability to adapt writing style and tone to suit different types of products or services being advertised in classifieds, while maintaining consistency and coherence.

  • After receiving suggestions from peers and feedback from the instructor, you will be able to revise and edit classified advertisement content for clarity and grammatical correctness, ensuring a polished and tailored final copy that effectively conveys the intended message and resonates with the preferences and needs of target audience.
