1. Review the Key Points

(1) How to understand  the inherent contradictions in the concept of sustainable development?

(2) How to understand the following two sentences ? (a) What the ambiguity surrounding ‘sustainability’ can offer, is the possibility of integration, synthesis and synergy – of a social learning process that bridges the divisions between the social and ecological, the scientific and spiritual, the economic and the political. (b)Sustainable development is politically, economically, ethically, ideologically and scientifically charged.It will not be easy and the dialogue continues.

(3) Why do we consider climate to be the most important indicator of environmental issue. And What is its role in performing sustainable development?

(4) How to evaluatesustainability science? What is the relationship between science, knowledge and sustainability?

  • If you were a native of Tuvalu, how would you know whether the risk from climate change is accurate or amplified?


3. Case Study

Directions: Use China's carbon reduction achievements as a case study to illustrate how the climate indicator  is a measure of environmental issues and even sustainable development issues, and think of more examples to illustrate the profound impact of climate on all aspects of the world.
