Background: A works in Eagle Freight ForwardingCompany, who is responsible for client service. B  worksin Senda Foreign Trade Company.

Scene 1: A received a phone call on Sept. 1st.


A: This isEagle Freight Forwarding Company, what can I do for you?

B: I’m from Senda Foreign Trade Company.Recently, I have 10000 sets of jeans ready for shipment from shanghai to Rotterdam,so I’d like to make aninquiry.

A: Thanksfor your inquiry, First, I’d like to ask you some details. What’s your deadline forshipment?

B: The goods need to be shipped around Sept.15th and tobe delivered beforeNov.10th.

(2 minutes later)

A: There are2 voyages (航次)for yourreference. One is that M.V.(Merchant Vessel) “Pioneer” will depart on Sept.15thand arrive on Nov.6th, the freight rate (运价)is USD1400per TEU(Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit). Theother is that M.V. “Venture” will depart on Sept. 14th andarrive on Nov.4th, the freight rate is USD1500 per TEU. Additionalfees(附加费) apply ifyou want, like inland transport, port handling, customs fees, and so on.

B: I’d like to appoint your company for the shipment, includinginland transport. And I choose M.V. “Pioneer”.

A: Thanks alot. I will fax you the standard form of power of attorney(委托书)(or BookingNote订舱单)in fiveminutes. Please fill in detailssuch as schedule(船期), number of items(件数), type andsize of containers(集装箱的类型及尺寸), number ofcontainers(集装箱的数量), grossweight(毛重), volume(体积), tradeterms (贸易术语)and CFS/CFS(ContainerFreight Station)or CY/CY (Container Yard)selectionetc. Please fax back the form with your stamp(公章) in 1 hour.

A: Is thatSenda Foreign Trade company? This is Eagle Freight Forwarding company. I’d liketo inform you that your 10000 sets of jeans were shipped on aboard(装上船)yesterday.Is there any requirement whenmaking the bills of lading(提单)?

B: I need torevise (修改)the name of notified party(被通知方/受通知方) showed in B/L.

A: I see. Iwill fax you the standard form ofLetter of Indemnity(担保函)for revising nameof notified party showed in the B/L. Please fill in the letter of indemnity. Thanks.
