1.4 Enhancing the college students' willingness and ability of independent innovation and entrepreneurship


Guilford (l967) proposed that"creativity" and "problem-solving ability" are the two most complex abilities in the human mind. Creativity has gradually been regarded as the most precious resource of human.

To meet the challenges of the creative economy and multi-industry competition, countries in the world are focusing on improving their creativity and formulate educational policies for innovation and entrepreneurship. Practicing"creative innovation," promote "future imagination and entrepreneurship," the development of "Humanistic innovation," and step into a new "diversified innovation." Currently, research and development in the field of entrepreneurship are in full swing. CountrieS like the USA, Singapore, SouthKorea, Japan, Australia, are focusing on entrepreneurship education in their educational policy and plan to enforce creativity. This 21st century is becoming the most "Creative Age." 

Treffinger (1980)pointed out that creativity can improve one’s ability through actual activities. If we see the higher education policy for a long time, indoor classroom learning has less opportunity to think students independently and solve problems. In elementary and high school, this is the key issue against creative learning. So Government recognizing this situation and introducing reform on its educational policies to enforce innovation and creation. The objective is that every single student can get the opportunity to think independently and creatively with their active participation to solve problems.

Since entrepreneurship education in colleges and universities is a new educational concept, it must be rooted in the educational ideology of colleges and universities and guide the education and teaching process in practice. Entrepreneurship education should enhance the willingness and ability of college students to innovate and start a business. Entrepreneurship education in colleges and universities is a quality education that builds an environment for independent innovation and encourages the entrepreneurial ability of college students.


  • Entrepreneurship education is to cultivate the entrepreneurial ability


Entrepreneurship education, as a new educational concept, not only educate every college student to start a business and start a company but also boost college students’entrepreneurial awareness, entrepreneurial thinking, entrepreneurial skills, and other comprehensive entrepreneurial qualities. Every person has a certain entrepreneurial ability. In the absence of entrepreneurial education, people may not see entrepreneurial opportunities and have relatively weak entrepreneurial awareness.

The Chinese government introduced policies to encourage college students to participate in entrepreneurial activities since the late 1990s. The debate was there whether college students encourage starting a business or not. Since the first generation of entrepreneurial college students, people have gradually accepted the entrepreneurship of college students. People have realized the changes in entrepreneurship education.

According to the survey, 18.7% of college students start their businesses and to make more money, while 32.5% of them give up their major to start a business. It can be seen that many college students’ understanding of the “business” seems to be “materialistic".

Experts point out that many college students think that starting a new company is the only way to start a business. But running and operating a company is actually a business and that are also a business that engages fundamental theories and academic discussion.   

Learning and entrepreneurship are interrelated and learning is the base for entrepreneurship. ents. College students' accumulation of knowledge and their exploration of knowledge of new and emerging technology are also part of " business". So, entrepreneurship education is not just about teaching college students about to set up companies, to obtain a business license but also provides a full understanding of the " business" which is a necessary basic element for the students.


  • Entrepreneurship education is an extension of university professional knowledge education

 

Combining theory with practice is one of the most important aspects of entrepreneurial education. Entrepreneurship education not only encourages creativity, self-reliance, and individual initiative or provides knowledge about the market economy, but also includes finance, commerce, and management. However, we still lack the necessary research and professional guidance for entrepreneurship education. Many experts pointed out that universities should make institutional arrangements for college students’ entrepreneurial education. Under the current academic year conditions, conditions can be created for students to learn, operate, and practice, forming a relatively open and flexible teaching system, and always provide entrepreneurial education. As a part of university education, it not only encourages and allows students to go out and start a business but also allows students to continue to study in school. Entrepreneurship education is taken as part of university education to encourage college students to dare to innovate, inspire to put forward new ideas and ideas; this is exactly the requirement of quality education.



  • Entrepreneurship education can enhance their practical ability, organizational ability, psychological strength, and teamwork spirit

        

As taken as quality education, entrepreneurship education cannot be taken only for popularity. Itis is also necessary to regularize and institutionalize college courses. As far as the institutional concern, the cultivation of the entrepreneurial spirit to the students is a basic requirement followed by in-depth research that should be conducted in entrepreneurship education, and courses should be offered to all students. As early as 2002, the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Labor and Social Security, Ministry of Personnel and other ministries and commissions, as well as many local governments, successively issued relevant policies to encourage and help college students to start their businesses. Entrepreneurship is a kind of real, practical work. This kind of practice requires theoretical support. When college students bravely take the first step in entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial education should give theoretical guidance to the student. Entrepreneurship education motivates college students to grab entrepreneurial opportunities and start businesses. Entrepreneurship education guides the current reality of college students’ difficulty in obtaining employment, leading to creating a new generation of young intellectual entrepreneurs.



  • Actively execute various entrepreneurial practices to create a worth atmosphere for entrepreneurial education


Students can participate in entrepreneurial practices, professional competitions, scientific research activities, entrepreneurial design competitions, such as; organizing and managing a club, designing or organizing a  public event,  planning, and creating a publication or newspaper. Moreover, the concept of a method for solving a problem, drafting a scientific or academic research project, etc.. These are all helpful to exercise and improve students' observation, thinking, imagination, and practical ability and selection in competitions, which will also help create a strong atmosphere of technological innovation. Therefore, colleges and universities should organize various activities such as scientific research competitions, entrepreneurial exchanges, and entrepreneurial lectures and regularly invite successful entrepreneurs to share their experiences and to analyze the reasons for success and failure.

Entrepreneurship training courses can also be held specifically to promote students' practical ability and innovative thinking and provide students with as much help as possible. It is necessary to take entrepreneurship education as a major event for students and collaboration with enterprises so that students' entrepreneurial activities and enterprises can form an excellent bond and hence students' entrepreneurial achievements can be industrialized.
