Flora: Merry Christmas, Sam!
Sam: Merry Christmas, Flora!
Flora: What are you doing here? Are you planning a Christmas trip?
Sam: No, I will just stay with my family. I am checking these e-cards. They’re from my friends all over the world.
Flora: They are pretty lovely! Did you get one from Katy?
Sam: Yes.
Flora: Do you have her number?
Sam: Sorry, I don’t have it. But I do have her email. Do you need me to send it to you?
Flora: Yeah, that would be great. Thanks.
Sam: No worries. I’ll just forward her greeting card to you and you can get it from the email.
Flora: Thanks a million.
Sam: My pleasure.

Tommy: Wow, Ruby! I love your Halloween costume.
Ruby: Thank you, Tommy. I’m glad you like it.
Tommy:You must have spent hours working on it.
Ruby: I did. I wanted to make sure I looked really spooky tonight.
Tommy: Did you make jack-o’-lanterns with your family as well?
Ruby: I hate carving pumpkins, so I always leave them to my sister.
Tommy: Shall we go out trick-or-treating?
Ruby: I’ll let you lead the way.
Tommy: I think that’s a good idea. If people saw you first, they would never open the door!

Thanksgiving Day in the United States
Thanksgiving Day in the United States is aholiday on the fourth Thursday of November. It is a traditional day for families and friends to get together for a special meal. The meal often includes a turkey, stuffing, potatoes, cranberry sauce, gravy, pumpkin pie, and vegetables. Thanksgiving Day is a time for people to give thanks for what they have.
Thanksgiving Day parades are held in some cities and towns on or around Thanksgiving Day. Some paradesor festivities also mark the opening of the Christmas shopping season. Some people have afour-day weekend, so it is a popular time for trips and to visit families and friends.
Most government offices, businesses, schools and other organizations are closed on Thanksgiving Day. Many offices and businesses allow staff to have a four-day weekend so these offices and businesses are also closed on the Friday after Thanksgiving Day. Public transit systems do not usually operate on their regular timetables.
Thanksgiving Day is one of the busiest periods for travel in the USA. This can cause over crowding. Seasonal parades and busy football games can cause disruption to local traffic.
