P: I'm scheduled on your flights from New York to Shanghai and back from Shanghai to New York. But now I need to change my return trip. I want to go back to Los Angeles vis Hong Kong. COuld you please arrange the new itnerary for me?
C: Certainly. Will you please give me your full name and your departure date from New York to Shanghai, so I can pull out your reservation record in my computer?
Dialogue 2:
P:Good morning.My mother has reseved a ticket for your flight to Dalian next week and unfortunately she has a bad cold and the doctor says she is no condition to leave now.
C:I'm sorry to hear that. I'll pull out the record and cancel her reservation . According to the requlation of the fare of this type, cancellation will result in 15% of the origianl fare. However, if you present a medical certificate, there will be no charge.

Task : Read aloud the diaolgue with a partner.
Setting: Jean Carver's reservation from Beijing to Dali is cancelled because she did not call Air China to confirm her reservation 24 hours before the flightdepature. As a result , she has to take a next day flight.
C: Hello, this is Air China Booking Office. How may I help you?
J: Hello, I'm scheduled on your flight CA 1849 from Beijing to Dali tomorrow afternoon. I'd like to make sure that there is no problem with my reservation.
C: OK. Let me check the record first. Could you tell me your last name ,please?
J: Carver. It's C-A-R-V-E-R.

C: Thank you for waiting, Ms.Carver.I'm sorry that your reservation has been cancelled.
J: What? I made the reservation last week from Beijing to Dali, December, 20th, Thursday on CA1849 departing at 13:40 tomorrow.
C: I believe that the cancellation is due to your failure to confirm.
J: Are you trying to tell me that I can't get on the flight tomorrow afternoon?
C: I'm sorry, ma'am. Seats are not available on tomorrow's CA 1849.
J: That's too bad.
C: I'm sorry . But would you like me to reserve a seat for you to Dali for the day after tomorrow?
J: All right.
C:Thank you, ma'am. Your are confirmed on CA1919 the day after tomorrow, December , 21st. It leaves Beijing at 8:40 and arrives at 10:25 a.m. May I have your telephone number?
