1)Negation 正话反译

Ex 1. Wet paint.

   【V】油漆未干。

Ex 2. The explanation is pretty thin.

   【V】这种解释的理由很不充分。

Definition: Negation refers to a translation technique which renders the affirmative expression(expression without “no”, “not”, “never” or negative affixes such as “dis” , “less”, etc.) in the source language (English) into negative expression(expression with “不”, “未”, “无” “非” ,“毋”, etc. )in the target  language (Chinese) with the meaning unchanged. 


2. Affirmation 反话正译

Definition: Affirmation refers to a translation technique which renders the negative expression (expression with “no”, “not”, “never” or negative affixes such as “dis” , “less”, etc.) in the source language into the affirmative expression(expression without “不”, “未”, “无” “非” ,“毋”, etc. )in the target language with the meaning unchanged. 

Ex 1. Such flights couldn’t long escape notice.

   【V】这样的飞行迟早会被发现。

Ex 2. The lion is no less cruel than the tiger.
