目的

要求

《综合英语II》是英语专业基础阶段主干课程，教学对象为英语专业本科一年级学生。旨在于通过语言基础训练，传授系统的基础语言知识，综合训练基本语言技能（听说读写译），使学生逐步提高语言理解能力，了解英语各种文体的表达方式和特点，扩大词汇量和熟悉英语常用句型，具备基本的口头与笔头表达能力，培养和提高学生运用英语进行交际的综合能力，同时指导学习方法，培养逻辑思维能力和自学能力，并使学生的文化素养有一定程度的提高。

难点

1、教学重点：

1）以课文为中心，展开听、说、读、写各方面技能的训练。

2）课文的重点词汇、语言点的讲解和练习，巩固英语基础知识。

3）结合对课文组织结构的讲解，体会各类英文文体的写作要求，加强对学生写作能力的培养，培养学生的篇章意识。

2、教学难点：

1）领会课文中心思想；

2）把握文章的组织结构；

3）英语口语、书面表达的训练和提高；

4）语言点的讲解和内化。

1.         Course  overview  (30 minutes)

1）learn the objectives of the course;

2）set criteria for assessment of the course;

2.         Warm-up oral  activity: New Year’s resolution ( 58 minutes):

Task: Make a list of the most popular resolutions in the class.

1)         Make a list of  your New Year’s resolutions (10 minutes)

2)         Walk around to  ask about each other’s resolutions and collect the most popular ones (20  minutes)

3)         Presentation:  report to the class your finding after talking to at least 5 of your  classmates ( 20 minutes)

4)         Conclusion: top  5 new year’s resolutions ( 8 minutes)

3.         Assign  after-class preview of Text I  (2  minutes)

Q: How do you feel when you are facing a crisis?

   How much do you know  about the 9.11 attack in New York?

2.         Skim the text  for main idea  ( 10 minutes)

3.         Listening practice 1   ( 60  minutes)

Task 1: listen  to three young Americans talking about their feelings about the Sep.11 attacks  and figure out some details (30 minutes)

Task 2:  Dictation exercises (30 minutes)
