大学英语是根据《高职高专教育英语课程教学基本要求》开设的一门通识必修课程。它以外语教学理论为指导，集多种教学模式和教学手段于一体，讲授英语语言基础知识，训练学生英语听、说、读、写、译的能力。学生通过学习在日常活动和与未来职业相关的业务活动中能够进行一般的口头和书面交流，并未将来学习英语跨文化知识，进一步提高英语应用能力奠定基础。
