英语语篇分析课程大纲 课程编码:1910350311 课程名称:英语语篇分析 英文名称:English Discourse Analysis 课程类型:□通识教育课程 □学科基础教育课程 ☑专业教育课程 课程性质:□必修 □方向 ☑选修 总学时数:32学时(授课32学时,实践0学时) 总学分数:2 先修课程:基础英语;语言学导论1;西方文明史 适用专业:英语 开课学期:第五学期 开课学院/部(室/所/其他):外国语学院 一、课程地位与作用 英语语篇分析课程是英语专业开设的专业教育平台选修课程。本课程研究英语语篇分析的不同理论与方法,系统地论述语言是如何在实际生活中得到应用的,语料涉及谈话录音、通知、书信、小说、诗歌、报刊文摘等。本课程运用理论语言学、社会学、心理学、人类学、哲学研究中各种有关的原则,建立自己的理论与方法。学习此课程使学生不仅可以在语言学理论方面开拓视野,还在英语语篇分析方面具有较大的实用价值。本课程是在学生完成一、二年级的基础英语、语言学导论1、西方文明史等专业基础课程基础上开设的,为学生进一步学习高级英语、英语文学导论、英国文学史、美国文学史等必修课程做必要的理论补充。 二、课程目标 通过本课程的理论教学,实现下列目标: 1.【知识目标】学生能够了解英语语篇分析的形成和发展,语篇的本质、相关概念及语篇分析的基本方法;国内外语篇分析主要流派及其主要观点;英语语言中的各种语篇的政治、经济、历史和文化的背景和关联。 2.【能力目标】学生能够运用英语语篇分析的理论知识和方法,有目的地认识英语语篇模式和汉语的差异;掌握英语语篇建构的内在规律,增强语篇意识,培养提高语篇分析鉴赏能力;培养对英语语篇中人物、事件进行道德与价值观方面的评判能力以及评论文学思想在当今社会的现实意义的能力,以达到阅读时能正确理解语篇,写作时能创作有效交际的语篇;能够从多维度进行英汉语篇对比研究,理解和认识中西方文化差异。 3.【相关素养】学生能够将自己所掌握的英语语篇分析理论知识、批判性话语分析能力与教育学、心理学、学习科学等相关学科知识相融合,结合中学英语教材与中学英语教学,提升中学生英语学科核心素养;能够利用所学知识、能力指导中学生欣赏、分析、评价英语语篇。 4.【价值目标】学生能够体悟中外经典英语语篇中包含的丰富历史记忆、哲学睿智、道德情操以及精华英语语言艺术中得到优美英语语言艺术的熏陶、爱国主义情怀的厚植、思维品质的锤炼、道德情操的提升、国际视野的拓展、文化自信的培养、价值的正确取向;能够挖掘中学英语教材中的各类语篇所蕴含的育人元素,承担“以文化人,以文育人,以文培元”的使命,实现“立德树人”的根本任务。 课程目标支撑毕业要求指标点 课程目标 毕业要求1-1 毕业要求1-2 毕业要求3-1 毕业要求3-2 毕业要求3-3 课程目标1 H 课程目标2 H 课程目标3 H 课程目标4 L L 三、课程教学内容与基本要求 第一章 Language in Use 参考课时:6学时 教学目标: 1.To help students learn about the course of English Discourse Analysis. 2.To help students understand the definition of a text and discourse; 3.To help students understand the differences between text and discourse, the differences between spoken and written text; 4.To encourage students to compare English texts and discourses with Chinese texts and discourses. 教学内容:An Introduction to English Discourse Analysis; A sample of language; What is a text; Text and discourse; Spoken and written text; Multimodal Discourse Analysis; Semantic Features; Illustration from a crowded train; Conclusion. 学习重点:the differences between text and discourse; the differences between spoken and written text. 学习难点:the differences between text and discourse; the differences between spoken and written text. 学习建议:理解语篇的定义必须理解语言的定义,结合语境来理解语篇。从国内外学者的观点来理解口语和书面语;结合国外语言学家范·鲁文、韩礼德、罗兰·巴特和国内语言学家张德禄、黄国文、李战子、顾曰国等教授的多模态理论来分析各种语篇。运用多模态理论分析中学英语教材中的经典语篇。 第二章 Communication 参考课时:4学时 教学目标: 1.To help students know about grammar and communication, linguistic competence and encoding conventions; 2.To help students understand three kinds of pragmatic meaning and speech act theory; 3.To guide students to identify four aspects of communicative competence. 教学内容:Grammar and communication; Different schools of grammar; Three kinds of pragmatic meaning; Four aspects of communicative competence; Conclusion. 学习重点:Three kinds of pragmatic meaning; Four aspects of communicative competence. 学习难点:Three kinds of pragmatic meaning; Four aspects of communicative competence. 学习建议:学生学习这一部分内容时,可结合索绪尔、韩礼德、乔姆斯基的语法理论来理解语法和交际的关系;结合国内语法学家薄冰、张道真、章振邦等的理论和方法来理解语法的意义和运用;结合奥斯丁的言语行为理论来理解交际行为的语用意义。运用各种语法理论分析中学英语教材中的语法和交际的关系。 第三章 Context 参考课时:4学时。 教学目标: 1.To help students know about the theory of context; 2.To encourage students to read a magazine article to understand text-activated context; 3.To illustrate an event in British military history to analyze unshared context and shared values. 教学内容:Conditions of language use; Context and shared knowledge;Text-activated context; Unshared context: illustration from a battlefield; Context and shared values. 学习重点:Context; Context and shared values. 学习难点:The theory of context. 学习建议:结合伦敦学派的马林诺夫斯基、弗斯和韩礼德的情景语境理论来理解交际产生的环境;结合国内著名语言学家胡壮麟、张德禄、黄国文等的理论来分析相关语篇。 第四章 Schematic Conventions 参考课时:6学时 教学目标: 1.To help students know about the connections between context and situation and schema; 2.To introduce frames of reference and frames and cultural assumptions to understand any text of everyday life; 3.To help students understand interpersonal routines, adjacency pairs and genres. 教学内容:Context and situation; Schema; Frames of reference; Frames and cultural assumptions; Interpersonal routines; Adjacency pairs; Genres; Conclusion. 学习重点:Schema; Interpersonal schemata; Service encounters; Terms of address. 学习难点:Schema. 学习建议:结合Kant, F.C.Bartlett, D.E.Rumehart, P.L.Carrel and J.Anderson的图式理论来理解不同语境下的语篇;结合国内图式理论的研究成果来分析各种语篇。运用图式理论来提高中学英语阅读的效率。 第五章 Co-textual Relations 参考课时:4学时 教学目标: 1.To help students know about the differences between theme and rheme in information structure; 2.To use some examples to interpret the differences between Anaphora, Epiphora, Simploce and Anadiplosis; 3.To enable students to recognize cohesion and coherence of a text and write a cohesive and coherent text fluently and effectively. 教学内容:Information structure; Text linkage; Anaphora and pro-forms; Cohesion; Cohesion and the least effort principle; Cohesion and coherence; Conclusion. 学习重点:Information structure; Cohesion; Cohesion and coherence. 学习难点:Information structure; Cohesion. 学习建议:学生学习这部分内容的时候,要注意结合捷克语言学家Mathesius’ Communicative Dynamism, Halliday, G. Brown& G.Yule的衔接理论来理解;结合国内语言学家胡壮麟、张德禄、胡曙中、李战子、朱永生等的观点和方法来分析语篇的衔接和连贯。选取中学英语教材中的经典作品分析语篇的衔接和连贯。 第六章 The Negotiation of Meaning 参考课时:4学时 教学目标: 1.To help students understand the differences between systemic and schematic knowledge, the differences between communicative convergence and negotiating convergence; 2.To use some examples to help students know about Grice’s Co-operative Principle Conversational Implicature; 3.To help students understand the differences between cooperative and territorial imperatives. 教学内容:Systemic and schematic knowledge; Communicative convergence; Negotiating convergence; Co-operative Principle; Conversational Implicature; The maxims of quality, relation, and manner; Co-operative and territorial imperatives; Conclusion. 学习重点:Co-operative Principle; Conversational Implicature; The maxims of quality, relation, and manner. 学习难点:Co-operative Principle; Conversational Implicature. 学习建议:学生学习这部分内容的时候,要注意结合美国著名语言哲学家H. P.
