Course Description:
	This is a course designed to help students gain a comprehensive understanding of the essential qualities of academic English for science and engineering, with an emphasis on communication skills in an academic setting. It also aims to provide students with a foundation in academic English that they can use to expand on other university courses or individual studies. It is open primarily to undergraduate students majoring in Maths, Chemistry, Engineering Science, Physics, and Computer Science. The course will cover the following topics:
Choosing a topic
Searching, reading, and organizing sources
Reading literature critically
Writing a literature review
Listening to lectures and taking notes
Avoiding plagiarism
Mastering the academic styles
Writing the body of an academic essay
Writing in a formal style
Comparing your writing to expert writing
Making an oral presentation
Using corpus data to answer grammar and vocabulary queries

Learning Outcomes:
       By the end of this term, students should have an increased awareness of the key features of academic English for science and engineering, and they should be able to:
