《中国概况》是面向国际本科生的必修课。课程旨在帮助国际学生全面了解中国国情和文化，加深他们对中国的认识，提高他们的跨文化交流能力，培养国际生成为中国文化的积极传播者。课程教学内容涉及经典中国文化在当代的传承，如时间制度、教育传统、美食风俗、艺术瑰宝、中医精髓；重视中华优秀传统文化在新时代的创造性转化、创新性发展，如非遗的活态传承、生产性保护和社会传承；同时也积极介绍21世纪中国日新月异的发展和变化，如智慧中国、科技创新、教育变革、影视传媒、体育赛事、乡村振兴、共同富裕等内容，课程涵盖32讲，全方位介绍一个活泼开放、奋发图强、兼容并包的文明大国形象。课程采用基于慕课的混合教学模式，将全英文慕课《风从东方来：今日中国概况》和汉语桥在线团组项目的视频课有机融合进课程教学中。
The course “A Brief Introduction to China” is compulsory for first-year international undergraduate students. The course aims to help international students have a comprehensive understanding of China's national conditions and culture, deepen their understanding of China, improve their cross-cultural communication skills, and become active transmitters of Chinese culture in the future. The teaching content includes the inheritance of traditional classical Chinese culture, such as the time system, education tradition, Chinese cuisine, artistic treasures and traditional Chinese medication. The course attaches importance to the evolution and growth of fine traditional Chinese culture in new and creative ways in the new era, such as the dynamic inheritance, productive protection and social inheritance of intangible cultural heritage. The course also introduces the rapid development of China in the 21st century, such as smart technology, scientific and technological innovation, educational reform, mass media, sports events, rural revitalization，common prosperity, etc. The 32 lectures present a lively, open, hardworking and inclusive image of China to learners at home and abroad. The course adopts a MOOC-based blended teaching mode by incorporating the online learning resources from the MOOC “A Breeze from the East: An Introduction to Modern China” and the video course of“Chinese Bridge Delegation Online”.
