1. allege=say without knowing the truth（断言，宣称）

2.重要句型：it is alleged that sb/sth do = sb/sth is alleged to do= sb/sth allegedly do（据称某人／某物做某事）

  2.1 It is alleged that美军mistreated prisoners of war=美军is alleged to have mistreated prisoners of war=美军allegedly mistreated the prisoners（据称美军虐待战俘）

 2.2 注意：如果表达“据称某人某物没有做某事”一般用“it is alleged that sb/sth do not”或是“sb/sth allegedly do not”, 很少用“sb/sth is not alleged to do” 或“sb/sth is alleged not to do”

3. allege的形容词alleged(被断言的；涉嫌的)可以充当前置定语，比如：the alleged criminals （涉嫌的犯罪分子）
