1.commute= to make the same journey regularly between work and home（通勤）

  1.1固定搭配commute to A地 every day（每天去A地上班），如果你在市中心上班，就可以说I commute to the downtown every day

  1.2固定搭配commute from A to B=commute between A and B（在A，B两地之间往返），如果住郊区，每天要去市中心上班，就可以说I commute from the suburb to the downtown=I commute between the suburb and the downtown

  1.3如果你可以从住的地方乘坐公交车到公司，你就可以说 I live within commuting   distance of my company；但如果坐车，上下班都要花3个小时的话，那肯定是exhausting commuting

2.commute还可以=change the length of a judicial sentence（减轻刑罚）

  2.1 固定搭配commute a sentence to sth（把刑罚减为...），比如：犯人在监狱里表现良好，her sentence was commuted from death to life imprisonment（对她的判决由死刑减为无期徒刑）
