1.divert第一层意思=to shift or turn from one thing to another=deviate（使转向，绕道） 

1.1如果遇到封路，traffic is being diverted(车辆改道)；即便用diverted traffic（交通分流），北京的交通依然很堵

1.2暴风雪天气使得flight had to be diverted to another airport

  1.3 南水北调是divert water from the Yangtze River（调长江流域的水）to华北和西北

2. divert除了使traffic, flight, water转向，还可以让attention 转移，divert表示“转移，分散注意力”时可同义替换distract

  2.1固定搭配divert sb’s attention from sth（转移某人对某事的注意力），比如，动作敏捷，眼明手快的魔术师们特别擅长divert people’s attention from 关键的保密动作

3. divert还可以=entertain=amuse（使高兴，娱乐），这层意思其实是第二层意思的延伸，因为娱乐无非就是通过把注意力从烦恼之事上转移开而娱乐

 3.1 固定搭配：divert somebody with sth (用sth 娱乐某人)，比如：It is easy to divert a person  who has a quite low haha point（笑点低） with funny stories
