5.作表语和宾补用的so

(1)在连系动词be，appear，remain和seem等之后，so有时用来替代表语，有时用来替代述谓部分，有时替代整个句子。Modern hospitals are clean and safe and doctors can cure many diseases．But it was not always so．(人教大纲版高三第79页)

他至今未娶，而且也没有娶妻的打算。He was ill but did not seemso．

他病了，但是看不出来。(2)用在一些能够跟复合宾语的动词后，作宾语补足语。This is convincible．At least I find it so．(BNC)
