2.替代词that和those

(1)that和those除了作指示代词外，也可作替代词。它们总是伴随着限定性的后置修饰语，分别等于the one和the ones。

It is interesting to compare the education system here with that of the United States．

把这里的教育制度同美国的加以对比，是很有意思的。

Another wonderful story is that of Journey to the Centre of the Earth．(人教大纲版高二下第12页)

另外还有一本非常好看的小说叫《地心游记》。

Many of the relics look very much like those found at Sanxingdui．(人教大纲版高二下第79页)

许多出土文物同三星堆所发掘的文物非常相像。

But a project team requires very different roles from those of a rugby team．(人教大纲版高三第94页)

但是一个项目小组所要求的角色却同橄榄球队的角色大不相同。

提示：

that也可替代不可数名词，但是the one则不能。

The resistance of a thicker wire is less than that of a thin one．

粗电线的阻力比细电线的阻力小。

×The resistance of a thicker wire is less than the one of a thin one．

(2)that作替代词只能指物，不能指人。those作替代词既可指物，又可指人。

The girl I saw was older than the one you were dancing with．

我看到的那个女孩比与你跳过舞的那个女孩年纪大些。

The girls I saw were older than the ones/those you were dancing with．

我看到的那些女孩比与你跳过舞的那些年纪大些。
