7.词的省略

(1)名词、冠词、物主代词或介词如果与前文重复，可以省略。

I like red wine better than white(wine)．

与红葡萄酒相比，我更喜欢白葡萄酒。

The lightning flashed and(the)thunder crashed．

闪电过后就是雷。

Please take good care of these flowers and(these)plants．

请好好看护这些花和植物。

We lived in Beijing and(in)Shanghai for some time．

我们在北京和上海住过一段时间。

(2)重复出现的形容词，省略后面的。同一名词被两个或两个以上的形容词修饰，则前面的常被省略。

We are young boys and(young)girls．

我们是一群年轻的男孩和女孩。

There were middle-aged(women)and elderly women to attend the meeting．

参加会议的有中年妇女，还有老年妇女。
