8.表示让步的非状语从句表达方法

表示让步除了用让步状语从句外，还有其他的一些表达方法。

(1)由非谓语动词表示。

Told many times，he didn't listen．

尽管被告之过多次，他就是不听。

Walking or sleeping，he is always thinking．

不论是走路还是睡觉，他都在思考。

(2)由形容词(短语)或名词词组表示。

A shy young girl，she talks a lot to me．

她虽然是个内向的女孩，跟我说话却很多。

Weak and old，he tried hard．

虽然上了年纪而且很虚弱，但是他很尽力。

(3)由定语从句表示。

Many students who were late were not criticized．

很多学生虽然迟到了，也没有挨批评。

He，who's spent all his life hunting for a job with teaching，has never been a teacher．

他一辈子都在寻找教育方面的工作，可是却从来没有做过老师。

(4)由“in spite of the fact that+从句”、“despite the fact that+从句”和“regardless of the fact that+从句”表示。

Despite the fact that they have never met each other，Mike and Xiao Li are best friends．(人教大纲版高一上第89页)

虽然素未谋面，但迈克和小李却是最好的朋友。

Despite the fact that he used traditional materials，Gaudi was a modern architect．(人教大纲版高二上第29页)

尽管高迪使用传统材料，他却是现代建筑家。

In spite of the fact that he was born in China，he never speaks Chinese．

虽然生在中国，但他却不会讲汉语。

(5)由granted(that)，granting(that)表示。

Granting(that)you are right，you should not treat her that way．

即使你是对的，你也不应该那样对她。

Granted(that)he has enough money to buy the house，it doesn't mean he is going to do so．

即使他有足够的钱买这栋房子，也并不是说他要买下来。

(6)由for all，with all表示。

For all his efforts，he didn't succeed．

尽管他做了一切努力，但是仍未成功。With all his money，he isn't happy．

尽管他很有钱，但是并不幸福。
