4.so．．that，such．．that引导的结果状语从句

so．．that，such．．that引导的结果状语从句表示“如此……以至于”的意思。so是一个副词，后面跟形容词、限定词和副词;such既可作表语，也可作名词的定语。

(1)so．．that引导的结果状语从句。

①“so+形容词+that”从句

I was so optimistic that I decided that the next day，the 22nd day of the expedition，I would increase my workday to 12 hours．(人教大纲版高一下第31页)

我乐观起来，决定第二天即远征的第二十二天，要把一天的工作时间延长到十二小时。

She was so surprised that she couldn't move．(人教大纲版高一上第24页)

她惊奇得无法挪动。

②“so+形容词+a+单数可数名词+that”从句。

Mike is so honest a man that we all believe him．

迈克是如此诚实的一个人，以至于大家都相信他。

He made so inspiring a speech that everybody got excited．

他发表了如此鼓舞人心的演讲以致大家都很激动。

上述两句也可以用such．．that表示。

③“so+限定词(many，few，much，little)+that”从句。

Customers see so many ads every day that advertisers must work hard to get their message across．(人教大纲版高三第40页)

消费者每天看到大量的广告，因此广告商必须使出浑身解数使消费者明白他们的意图。

此句用such．．that结构表示就是:

He has so few friends that he often feels lonely．

他朋友很少，所以经常感到孤独。

There was so much dust in the sky that we could not see the stars clearly．(95人教版高二下第56页)

天空中的尘埃太多，因此我们不能很清晰地看见星星。

此句用such．．that结构表示就是:

I had so little money then that I couldn't even afford a used car．

在下面的句子中little不是限定词，而是形容词:

④“so+副词+that”从句

他读得很慢，所有的孩子都听懂了这个故事。

⑤“so+动词(或动词+so)+that”从句

He so handled the matter that he won over those who went against him．

他把事情那样处理了，以至于赢得了反对者的支持。

His heart beat so that he could hardly breathe．

他心跳很快，以至于呼吸困难。

He so used all his skill that he invented a new type of machine．

他充分地发挥了全部技能，终于发明了一种新机器。

⑥“so+过去分词+that”从句

The book was so written that it gives a quite wrong idea of the facts．

这书写得太离谱了，简直跟事实截然相反。

(2)such．．that引导的结果状语从句。

①“such+a/an+(形容词)+that”从句。

In fact，Einstein's discoveries made such a big difference that he felt he had to apologise to Newton．(人教大纲版高二上第85页)

事实上，爱因斯坦的发现(和牛顿先前讲的)有如此大的差别，让他感到很对不起牛顿。

The new paint reflects light in such a way that the human eye is fooled．(人教大纲版高二下第134页)

这种新油漆以独特的方式反射光，以至于人们的眼睛都被欺骗了。

She spoke in such a soft voice that I couldn't understand everything she said．

她声音太轻，她讲的话我不能完全理解。

②“such+(形容词)+复数名词+that”从句

He gave such important reasons that he was excused．

他说出了这么重要的理由，得到了大家的谅解。

They are such interesting novels that all of us want to read them．

这些是十分有意思的小说，大家都想看。

③“such+(形容词)+不可数名词+that”从句

He made such rapid progress that the teacher praised him．

他的进步很快，老师表扬了他。

He shut the window with such force that the glass broke．

他关窗子用了那么大的劲，玻璃都碎了。

This is such beautiful furniture that I'm thinking of buying it．

这家具太漂亮了，我打算把它买下来。

④“such(作代词)+that”从句

His behavior was such that everybody disliked him．

他的行为使得任何人都不喜欢他。

The weather was such that I could not go out．

天气如此炎热，以至于我不能外出。

(3)so．．that，such．．that引导的结果状语从句中的倒装。(参见倒装句)

在这两种表示结果的句子中，如果so或such置于句首，句子要使用倒装语序。

So excited was he that she could not say a word．

他很激动，一句话都说不出来。

So loudly did he speak that even the people in the next room could hear him．

他说得很响，连隔壁的人都能听见。

Such was his diligence that he made great progress．

他如此勤奋，以至于大有进步。

(4)so．．that，such．．that引导的结果状语从句中that的省略。

在这两种表示结果的句子中，that可以省掉。

Everything went so fast，she couldn't think．(人教大纲版高一上第24页)

一切发生得那么快，容不得她思考。

We watched it rising from a mountain—at such a distance we couldn't tell which one．(人教大纲版高二上第76页)

我们看着它从一座山头升起，但距离遥远，不知道是哪座山。
