4.表示事件的转折

过去进行时的这一用法可与soon，the next moment，in minutes，a few days later等连用，表示一个新的动作刚刚开始。在记叙文中常常引出故事的高潮。

In the fifth grade，Janet had problems with her maths class．She studied hard，but she just couldn't understand the homework．Sarah helped Janet with herhomework and patiently explained every exercise to Janet．After six months，Janet was doing much better and even got an A on the maths exam．(人教大纲版高一上第89页)
