would/had rather后面的不定式有时用完成式，表示“宁愿过去做了某事(而

实际上并没有做成)”。

We ourselves had/would rather have left on the 8th，but we didn't left till the 12th．

我们原来是想在8号离开的，但是到了12号才离开。

—Did you criticize him for his mistake?—Yes，but I'd rather not have done it．

——你批评他犯的错误了吗?——是的，但是我多想没这么做啊。

提示：

had/would rather还可以作及物动词，后跟宾语从句，宾语从句中用过去式。

I would rather it was forgotten．

我宁愿这样的事情被忘掉。

I would rather you told me the truth．

我要你跟我说实话。
