“more+形容词或副词+than+形容词或副词”结构可以对同一个人或物本身的不同方面进行比较，此时常常表示“与其说……倒不如说……”。

He looked more asleep than dead．(人教大纲版高二上第76页)

他看上去好像没有死，而像是睡着了。

John was more daring than clever．

与其说约翰聪明，倒不如说他胆大。

He is more mad than stupid．

与其说他蠢，倒不如说他疯了。
