1.等同比较

表示等同比较时,我们使用“as+形容词和副词原级+as..”结构,意思为“与……一样……”。其中第一个as是副词,第二个as是连词。

(1)用“as+形容词原级+as..”表示等同比较。

China is as large as the whole of Europe.

中国和整个欧洲一样大。

Choosing what to eat is no longer as easy as it once was.(人教大纲版高一下第3页)

选择吃什么已经不像以前那么简单了。

His thoughts and ideas often seem as large as the universe he is trying to describe.(人教大纲版高二上第4页)

他的思想观念常常显得和他试图描述的宇宙一样博大。

Australia is as old as time.(人教大纲版高三第25页)

澳大利亚就像时间一样古老。

提示:

在as..as..结构中,第一个副词as常常可以省掉。

Now,the water,which was cold as ice and flowed faster than a river,was above her knees.(人教大纲版高一上第25页)

洪水冰冷刺骨,比河水还要湍急,现在的水位已没过了她的膝部。

So bright was the moon that the flowers were bright as by day.

月光皎洁明亮,就像白昼一样。

(2)用“as+形容词/限定词原级+名词+as..”表示等同比较。

German is as difficult a language as English.

德语和英语一样难学。

By looking at a problem in as many ways as possible,creative thinkers can find solutions that would otherwise remain invisible.(人教大纲版高二下第59页)

通过从尽可能多的角度来看待一个问题,富有创造力的思考者可以发现在其他情况下可能察觉不了的答案。

提示:

①在“as many..as”和“as much..as”结构中,有时many和much可作代词,其后不跟名词。

We must give as much as we take.(人教大纲版高一上第4页)

我们既然得到关爱,就必须给他人以同样多的关爱。

He didn't catch as many as he'd hoped.

他捕捉的没有他原来希望的那么多。

②要注意区别“as many..as”和“as much..as”结构与“as+形容词/限定词原级+as+表示数量的词”结构的不同。后者常常表达“数量之大”。

In the summer months the difference in temperature between London and the north can be as much as nine degrees!(人教大纲版高二上第35页)

夏季伦敦和北方地区的温差可达9度!

It turned out that there are creatures that can live even in habitats as far down as10,000 metres.(人教大纲版高二下第100页)

结果证明是:在深达10 000米的生活环境中居然有生物在那里生活。

The number of people who lost their homes reached as many as 250,000.(人教大纲版高一上第106页)

失去家园的人数多达250 000。

(3)用“as+副词原级+as..”表示等同比较。

I told the company about my work experience and answered their questions as well as I could.(人教大纲版高一下第56页)

我讲述了工作经历,尽量完美地回答了他们的问题。

Mary speaks French as fluently as Henry.

玛丽说法语和亨利一样流利。

She cared for the wounded soldiers as tenderly as she did for her own son.

她照料伤员就像照料自己的儿子一样细心。
