B: Cheer up, buddy! I suggest you focus on your resume because the interviewers may raise questions based on it. You can brainstorm and prepare for those possible questions.

B: 振作点，伙计。我建议你集中主要精力在你的简历上，因为面试官可能问简历相关的内容。你可以想一想可能会问的问题。

A: Could you please give me some suggestions?

A: 你能给我些建议吗？

B: I think you can add your GPA and your internship in the Fortune 500 company. What’s more, you can use examples and achievements to describe your hobbies and interests which can make you different. For example, Linda wrote on her resume that she is good at dancing, and she used to be the leader of the university cheering squad.

B: 我认为你可以在你的简历上加上你的平均绩点和你五百强的实习经历。还有，用一些例子和已取得的成绩来描述你的兴趣爱好，这样能让你与众不同。比如琳达在她的简历上写她擅长跳舞，曾经担任过大学啦啦队的队长。

B: Next, I think you should prepare a self-introduction and also your career plan. A very critical point is you should be familiar with your resume and try to perfect it constantly. Finally buy a proper dress for the interview.

1. brainstorm 集思广益；头脑风暴

2. critical 关键的

B: Firstly, I can make the best use of what I have learnt in here. I’ve been aware of your company for a quite long time. Also your company offers attractive salaries for starters.

A: Why did you leave your last job?

B: Marvelous! Do we have some provisions of working hours or informal do’s and don’ts?

A: We have a free atmosphere. As long as you work eight hours each day, you could have a flexible starting and leaving time. But you have to get your badge card punched in and out. Talking about salaries to each other is not encouraged, for it may influence our morale.

1. punch in 打卡上班

2. orientation 培训

［例］I have to take the orientation for the whole week.

A: I’ll have you meet our Sales Department Manager—Henry first, who is also your mentor. He is a workaholic and he might have a high standard towards his employees.

A: 我先带你去见销售部的经理亨利，他也是你的导师。他是个工作狂，对属下有很高的要求。

B: Hi, I’ve heard a lot about you. I appreciate this chance to work in your team and will certainly do my best.

B: 久仰您的大名！我会珍惜在您团队工作的机会并且努力表现。

C: I like your pioneering spirit, which reminds me of myself ten years ago and I am totally glad to be your mentor. I am a demanding person, but I will also assist you out of difficulties whenever you need me. You should be prepared to undertake this “extreme job”.

1. pioneering 先驱的，开创性的

［例］ America has always retained her pioneering spirit.

美国一直保持着其创新精神。

2. extensive 巨大的，大量的

［例］The security forces have extensive powers of search and arrest.

安全部队拥有搜查和逮捕的至高权力。

A: Tomorrow I will fly to Beijing to attend two bidder conferences and renew several important contracts with KA clients. This business trip is a heavy task and tonight I have to work overtime again.

A: 明天我要飞去北京去参加两个投标人会议，并且和我们的重要客户续签几个合同。这次的出差我肩负着重要的使命。我今晚又要加班了。

B: No wonder you look seedy. Because of the big deal, you’ve worked a great deal of overtime recently.

B: 难怪你的脸色看起来不怎么好。因为这个大单子，你最近加了很多的班。

A: I have no choice. I hope I can finish them by 21:30.

A: 我也没有办法。希望今晚能在9点半前下班。

A: After I am back, I can get two-day off. So business trip is not as

terrible as you thought. I can not only get the traveling allowances but also have the chance to know many different kinds of people.

1. seedy 疲倦的，粗鄙的

［例］They suck you into their seedy world.

他们把你卷入他们肮脏糜烂的圈子里。

2. treat 请（客），招待，款待

［例］She was always treating him to ice cream.

她总是请他吃冰激凌。

你努力工作公司会给你加薪？你必须向老板提出要求！

If you want a higher salary, you should tell your boss.

如何跟老板提加薪呢？

（1）证明你的“价值”：Prove your value to your boss.

（2）提要求：Tell your boss your request.

像前面所说的一样，公司每天都想着怎么削减成本。如果你不要求，公司觉得这是一件好事情；除非你要求了，否则公司绝不会自愿给你涨很多工资的。

（3）不要威胁上司：Do not threaten your boss.

（4）不要抱怨：Do not complain to your boss.

即使最后的结果不是很好，比如不给你加薪或加了很少一部分，通过主动出击你可能明白了自己的短处或老板对你的看法，也让老板明白了你不满足于现状。下次再用更强烈的事实来证明，可能这次没有成功，但是你离下次成功就不远了。

了解自己的强项recognize your strengths，弥补自己的短处compensate for the weaknesses，提高自己的业绩improve your performance，不满足于现状not satisfied with your current situation，优秀的业绩outstanding achievement，达到期望值reach your expectation。
