I. About the letter:

In the first letter，the buyer requires that the insurance be taken out on the goods for130% of the invoice value. As it is a usual practice that the seller covers insurance on the goods for10% or 15% over the invoice value，therefore the extra premium should be borne by the buyer.

The second letter is from the seller to the buyer promising to effect insurance on the goods for 130% of the invoice value at the request of the buyer.

II. Additional notes:

1. excessive a.过度的，过分的;(指价格)过高的

After inspection，we found this parcel of Rock Phosphate contained excessivemoisture.

经检验，我们发现这包磷酸盐水分含量过高。

The price of the articles sold in the supermarket are excessive.

2.在外贸英语函电中提到各个险别时，除all risks和war risk外，risk(s)这个词通常省略，如:

We shall cover TPND on your order.

我们将为你们订的货投保偷窃提货不着险。

The goods are to be insured against leakage.

将为货物投保渗漏险。

3. usual practice惯例，惯常做法

本课中的两封信都提到了usual practice，是指在投保时如果没有客户的明确指示，通常按发票金额加一成投保的惯例。

It is our usual practice that the insurance is to be covered for invoice value plus 10%.

按发票金额加一成投保是我们的惯例。

4. take note of注意;做记录

We'd like to inform you that your request for broader coverage has been complied with，please take note of it.

III. Chinese version of the letters:

我们知道按照你方惯例，你们仅按发票金额加一成投保。但这次为了满足客户的特殊需要，我们想请你方按发票金额的130%投保一切险。因此，额外保费由我方负担。

A Reply from the Insurance Company

Please note that you are requested to send us ten days before each shipmentall details regarding the goods to be delivered so thatwe can make out our policy accordingly.
