Lesson 25 (A) Acknow ledgement of the First Order(B) Confirmation of a Transaction

I. About the letters:

(A) This is a friendly letter acknow ledging receipt of the first order sent by the buyer. As this is a new client,the seller makes the trade terms clear and promises that the order w ill be executed promptly and satisfactorily provided these terms are accepted.

(B) This letter is from the seller to the buyer,confirming the transaction of 1,000 metric tons of Copper Concentrates.

II. Additional notes:

1. presentation n.提示

According to the terms agreed upon,we have drawn on you at sight against this shipment through Bank of China here. We ask you to honor/meet/protect the draft upon presentation.

根据双方同意的条款,我们已开具了这批船货的即期汇票,通过此处中国银行转去,请见票即付。

Kindly give our draft due honour upon presentation to you from your bankers.

当你方银行向你们提示我们的汇票时,请予以兑付。

Our acceptancesw ill be honoured at T Bank on presentation.

经我承兑的汇票,向T银行提示即可兑现。

present v.提示

The shipping documents w ill be presented to you by M idland Bank of your city against your accepting our 3 months'draft for 2,300.

你方承兑了我方金额为2 300英镑、见票3个月付款的汇票后,你处米德兰银行就会把装船单据交付你们。

2. confident adj.确信的;有信心的

confidence n.信心;把握

1) to be/feel confident of.../ to be/feel confident that...

2) to have confidence in.../ to have confidence that...

We are confident of persuading our customer to place a trial order.

我方有把握说服客户试订。

We feel confident thatwe can push the sale of your products in thismarket.

3. draw up草拟

We expect to have the agreement drawn up in a day or two for approval.

我们希望在一两天内收到草拟的协议以便批准。

4. subm it vt.提出;呈交

You are expected to submit to us your annual sales program,i.e. an estimated amount or turnover.

希望你方向我们提交你方年度销售计划,即:预估金额或营业额。

The agreement stipulates that a market report is to be submitted to the exporter by the agent every quarter.

协议规定每季度代理商要向出口商提交一份市场报告。
