Lesson 12 Concession on Price

I. About the letter:

This letter is from the seller to the buyer refusing the buyer's request ofmaking a substantial reduction in the price offered. The tactics used are to emphasize the superior quality and that products are really worth the price. However,the seller did make a small concession in order to bring the business to a successful conclusion.

We regret having to point it out that there is no possibility of our reducing the price to your indicated level as the costs of raw materials have risen a lot since April and we have to adjust our prices accordingly. But even w ith the increase,our prices are still lower than those from other competitors in the same line. Furthermore,we would like to draw your attention to the fact that the price w ill go up further ow ing to the present large demand. We would suggest in your interest that you accept our offer w ithout delay.

Please take the above into careful consideration and fax us your order as early as possible.
