Lesson 11 Urging the Buyer to Accept the Offer

I. About the letter:

This is a follow-up letter w ritten by the exporter. A fter sending a quotation to the importer,the exporter may w rite another letter after a certain period to find out whether the importer is interested in the quotation,w ith a view to encouraging business.

6. appeal n.吸引力

We have to let you know that thiswas last year's fashion and has lost its customer appeal.

3. W rite a letter urging the buyer to accept your offer in Lesson 7:

Dear Sirs,

We confirm receipt of your letter of September 11 and the exchange of fax between us. Now we would like to inform you of the following:

Groundnuts,Hand-picked,Shelled and Ungraded

We regret to say that your price of USD1,300 per M/T CFR European main port is indeed too high to be acceptable.

For your information,recently groundnuts from U.S.A are readily available in large quantities at a level about 10% lower than yours. You are therefore requested to reduce your price to the corresponding level for shipment during October.

Walnutmeat

Our bid for this article is US$2,500 permetric ton. If you find our price agreeable,please fax us your confirmation,indicating the time of shipment and details of packing.
