★Call the places where the tourist has been to, like restaurants, theaters or tourist attractions…

★Suggest that the tourist check with the hotel’s duty manager to see if it has been turned in. Look in all the places he/she has been to in the hotel including the tourist’s own room.

★If all efforts are in vain, you should share the following procedures with the tourist and assist him/her to obtain a new passport:

Step 1: Report the loss of passport to the local police station and get a valid written proof of statement.

Step 2: Get a “Proof of Personal Identity as a Tourist” from the local travel agency.

Step 3: Present all necessary documents, including those mentioned above, to the local Entry and Exit Management of Public Security Bureau, and get a certifi cate of loss.

Step 4: With the certificate and a few recently taken photos (the exact number depends on the issuing country), the tourist is able to apply for a new passport from that country’s closest consulate or the embassy in Beijing.

Step 5: Get a visa on the new passport from the local Entry & Exit Administration of the Public Security Bureau.

Step 6: Clarify with the tourist, as soon as possible, that all the expenses incurred are the responsibility of the tourist.

☆如无结果，地陪应该按以下程序协助游客补办新护照：

第三步：向当地公安局出入境管理机构递交以上证明，获取护照遗失证明。

第四步：携带护照遗失证明和近期标准照片若干张（具体照片张数各国有不同的要求）前往游客所在国驻中国大使馆或领事馆申办新护照。

第五步：凭新护照到当地公安局出入境管理机构办理新的签证。

第六步：及时告知游客一切费用自理。

【备注】大使馆（embassy）是一国在建交国首都派驻的常设外交代表机关。领事馆（consulate）是一国政府派驻对方国家某个城市并在一定区域执行领事职务的政府代表机关。大使馆的职责范围遍及驻在国各个地区，领事馆只负责某一管辖地区。港澳同胞来内地后遗失港澳通行证应向遗失地的市、县或者交通运输部门的公安机关报失，经公安机关调查属实，出具证明，由公安机关出入境管理部门签发一次有效的《中华人民共和国出入境通行证》，凭证返回香港、澳门。台湾游客一旦遗失旅行证件，应立即到遗失地的市、县公安机关报失，也可以到发现遗失地的公安机关报失，凭报失证明向当地市、县公安机关出入境管理部门申请补领旅行证件。经公安机关出入境管理部门核查属实的，允许重新申请领取相应的旅行证件，或予以补发一次出境有效的《台湾居民来往大陆通行证》。
