二、Part1 常见问题形式和基本套路

（1）Do you prefer X or Y?

比如：Do you prefer writing letters or sending emails?

答案：① 做出选择，说明更喜欢其中之一（或者两者都喜欢或者不喜欢）；② 两者对比（或者这两者和其他做对比）＋丰富答案。

Eg: I prefer sending emails for several reasons.First, sending emails via Internet is much faster than posting written letters, which is cr itically im portant for information sharing in the fast paced 21st century.Secondly, typed letters is more accurate and will cause fewer misreading or misunderstanding than handwriting with the a ssistance of computers.Thirdly, you ha ve to pay certain fee to express companies or post offices for delivering your writing letters while the mailing service would always be free on-line.Last but not least, it is safer to use a computer if you need to send confidential information because paper letters may be lost or copied during carriage.（音频96）

当然，开头也可以说Instead of hand-writing, I’d rather choose to use on-line mails for a few reasons。

和写作类似，如果一开始没有想好论点的数量，开头建议用several/many/a few 等不确定的数量，然后想到几点说几点，以免造成首尾不呼应；如果不幸只能想到一点，那么，为了口头弥补篇幅，不要忘了评论：

（2）What do you usually / normally do?

比如：What do you normally do in a typical day?

答案：① 列举事项 (study/meals/physical exercise/entertainment)；② 展开各个事项，丰富答案。

注意频率描述及事项先后顺序和时间。

Eg: Usually I would get up at 6 and do some jogging for a little while before breakfast and then go to school.I guess my busiest part of the day s hould be the afternoon.You know, after lunch, there would always be so many classes to attend and some of them are rather far away, which means I have to run hurriedly to go to different classrooms one after another.While, at night, my routine would be quite relaxing, to do physical exercise for at least half an hour, then take a shower and listen to latest pop music before I fall asleep.（音频97）

（3）What do you like to do?

比如：What do you like to do on weekends?

答案：① 列举喜好事项（一个或者多个）；② 说明原因（可重点说其中之一；注意频率描述）。

Eg: I have been interested in computer games since I was in middle school.Specifically, I’d love to play online games with my friends like World of Warcraft and it’s always challenging and fun.Whenever I complete a mission with a group of fellows, a great sense of achievement would be accompanied.Now being busy with my work and studies, I enjoy and c herish th e only relaxing game time around 2 hours per weekend with my mates a lot.（音频98）

注意：描述自己喜欢的事物时要使用欢快的语调。

（4）What do you dislike about X?

比如：What do you dislike about eating in restaurants?

答案：① 列举不喜事项（一个或者多个）；② 说明原因（可重点说其中之一）。

Eg: Well, I generally enjoy the meals had in restaurants, but there are still a few things I don’t like.For examp le, sometimes such places would ge t really smokey because some customers around my dining table would smoke their cigarettes without notifying me.I find myself breathing toxic air from time to time and I can’t stand repeating harming myself like this because I am clearly aware of the negative effects that second hand smoke could bring me.Besides, this kind of situation would really bother and embarrass people like me.（音频99）

注意：描述自己厌恶的事物时使用特殊的语调。

上面这段是多数人都不喜欢的餐厅用餐环境，那么一位讨厌经常被人搭讪的美女用同样的结构说：

Well, I generally enjoy the meals had in restaurants, but there are still a few things I don’t like.For example, sometimes such places would get really crowded, and some strangers around my dining table would try to accost me.I fi nd myself having the same conversation again and again and I can’t sta nd repeating introducing myself beca use I am not keen on meeting new people while eating.Besides, this kind of conversation would really bot her and embarrass people like me.（音频100）

（5）How often do you do X?

比如：How often do you read books?

答案：① 说明频率；② 说明原因（细节）。

Eg: I used to enjoy reading books as often as I can back at the time when I was a middle school student.But nowadays I seldom read due to daily heavy workload.From time to time I may try to utilize my fragment of time to read some poetries, when I’m in the right mood.The fact is: if I could finish a novel or two within half a year, I couldn’t be very d elighted since my pace of life now is more faster than my student years.（音频101）

注意：这里用到了过去和现在的对比，初步展示我们灵活的语法和语言驾驭能力。

The fact is: 我们在流利度部分讲过类似插入结构的用法，这里要强调的是，合理地使用此种结构，能为我们更好地组织接下来的语言赢得更多的时间，因为在它们之后的停顿和犹豫，一般被视为是自然的停顿；同时犹如评书中的一拍醒木，吸引听者的注意力。

（6）What is your favourite type of X?

比如：What is your favourite type of weather?

答案：① 说明具体方面 (天气，比如rainy）；② 说明原因（细节）。

Eg: Although snow is qu ite normal in northern China during winter, I will never get tired of it.U nlike rainy days o n which yo u ar e not abl e to hang out with your friends, you ha ve plenty of things to do on snowy days, like playing a snowball game, making a snowman, as well as tasting a piece of snowflake.It’s undeniably of a lot fun.（音频102）

（7）Is X popular (in your country)?

比如：Is playing sports popular in your university?

答案：① 肯定/否定/折中；② 列举喜欢的/不喜欢运动而喜欢Y / 一部分人喜欢；③ 说明原因（细节）。

Eg: Yes, there are so many sports popular in my university.Among all of them, table tennis is t he b est welcome one.As the national ball game of C hina, table tennis has br ought us enormous number of international prizes and deeply loved by our people.You can see tables for this game everywhere in every school including my Uni campus.You know, it’s not just a very convenient game to play with much fun, also helping people keep fit, so, many college students are fond of playing it.（音频103）

注意：问的是整体情况，不是个人喜好。

（8）What is the best time (of day/year) to do X?

比如：What time of year is best for travelling in your country?

答案：① 说明时间段；② 说明该事件段的具体优势，比如good weather, low travelling costs；③ 感受，例子和细节等。

Eg: I suggest that peopl e should choose to go traveling in my country in May.You know, there are pleasant things you can do only when it is sunny, not too hot or cold.For example, lying down on the grass for a nap in a beautiful place, or taking a roller coaster in an amusement park.Besides, usually, people lik e me will be in good mood in this month, at the end of warm spring and the very beginning of hot summer.And I believe it holds true for most people.（音频104）

（9）Why do some people like X?

比如：Why do some people enjoy reading?

答案：① 说明是什么原因/列举有很多原因 (acquire knowledge / for fun/ kill time)；② 解释为什么。

Eg: It’s impo rtant that practice must b e co mbined with theory.However, before getting into the real fields, people believe that the books hold the answers to almost everything, so they always equip their minds through reading first.Besides, it’s inspiring to value, digest or even criticize other points of view.Furthermore, not for acquiring knowledge purpose, some people read novels, fiction stories just for fun and regard reading as way of entertainment and killing time.（音频105）

（10）When was the first / last time you did X?

比如：When was the first time you used a computer?

答案：① 说明时间（year/primary school 等）；② 说明做该事情的原因 (attend computer class/ try new household appliances)；③ 描述具体细节和感受(multi-functional/user-friendly)。

Eg: I was given my first computer in 2001, when I was just entering into the primary school.My father bought it abroad as my 6th birthday gifts and that’s the very first time I touched and learned to use it.I felt amazed when I tried to use the mouse to draw pictures, and search my name on the Internet.It really encouraged my learn ing interests and broadened my horizon.（音频106）

注意：不要把这种when 开头的问题当成“仅仅回答时间就好”的问题。

（11）Did you ever learn to do X?

比如：Did you ever learn to cook?

答案：① 说明是否学过；② 说明做该事情的原因；③ 描述具体细节和感受。

Eg: Cooking is of so much fun! I always learn it from my parents or friends whenever I get the chance.I am really curious about the flavor after mixing or handling the materials, but I don’t like to go with the recipes completely, because I think cooking is less like a science but more like a free art.There was one time I cooked a traditional steamed fish for my dad’s birthday, and at that time I added some brandy and flamed it.Guess what? In about five minutes that big fish was turned into a skeleton!I’d say it’s not good to waste food but I really felt amazed and a little joyful to deny a way of cooking.（音频107）

注意：不要把这种Yes/No 问题当成“仅仅回答是否就好”的问题。

（12）How would you improve X?

比如：If you could, how would you improve your university / workplace?

答案：① 列举并解释（学校/单位）存在的问题（limited student dormitory / residence hall）；② 针对所列问题一一提出建议(construct high-rise buildings)；③ 假设改变过程中存在的问题或者可能达到的效果。

Eg: My best concern is about improving the residence hall for the students.You know, our university holds over 40 thousand undergraduates with only fourteen small dormitory buildings, which means not everyone could live on campus.Some of us have no choice but renting a flat far or near and commute between home and school on daily basis.If I could, I would in vest i n constructing some high-rise living buildings with advanced elevators.Then more students could live on campus to save time and money.The only problem is budget, because my university tends to pay hig her attentions and allocate more financial resource to scientific research instead of the physical environment.（音频108）

注意：犹如大作文解决问题型题目，问题或其原因一定要和解决办法对应。

（13）How important is X?

比如：How important is music for people in your country?

答案：① 回答是否重要，并描述程度 (very important)；② 解释原因/举例子/说细节 (loving parties or celebrations / music stars / their income)。

Eg: Music plays an i mportant part in our da ily life in China.For children, songs with beautiful lyrics c ould be educational materials in kindergartens and primary schools.Besides, beats and rhythms in pop music are artistic appealing and touching so that working or business people could be freed from pressure by listening to such music.For the elders, many of them like traditional opera very much, which offer them a sociable way of entertaining for their retire life.（音频109）

注意：这里对人群按照年龄进行了分组。

（14）What do you want / hope to do (in the future)?

比如：What kind of job would you like to do when you finish your studies?

答案：① 说明何种工作（product manager）；② 解释原因（key, challenging high salary, promising prospects）；③ 描述具体计划/方案（build designing command, do research, send resume）。

Eg: I gu ess I will be a product manager in an Internet company.Because i t’s a key and challenging position, but more likely offers higher salary or more promising career prospects.To achieve it, I have to build a good command of designing and do certain research on current market situation, then send my resume to my target companies like Apple and Google.（音频110）

注意：示范中的结构只是万种可能之一，不是标准答案，但是大家记住一点，雅思口语和写作要拿高分，重在逻辑。

（15）Do people do / get enough X?

比如：Do people in your country do enough creative activities in school?

答案：① 说明创造性活动是否足够；② 解释原因（具体看Part3 的教育类话题语料）。

Eg: Unfortunately, the a nswer seems to be nega tive.Curr ent pra ctice in education stresses only so called academic achievement, violently i gnoring the importance of nurturing the practical, organizational and creating abilities of the students.If a child shows no interest in such traditional learning, even though he or she is talented in other fields, he or she will be considered as an idle person.You k now what? Some of the prestige of overseas higher education is th e r esult o f weaknesses in our schooling system, which stifles creativity in favor of rote memorization.（音频111）

（16）How can people find out about X?

比如：How can you stay up-to-date with the national news where you live?

答案：① 列举获得最新国家（国际）新闻的途径（CCTV News）；② 一一简略说明 (every 19：00, all TV channels)；③ 可做不同途径（新闻/媒体）的对比（具体看媒体类话题）。

Eg: There a re so many ways for us to be kept informed with latest national news.The conventional one in China is watching CCTV News on TV.This program is broadcasted every 19：00 through all channels, and you don’t even have any other options if you watch TV during that half an hour time period.While among all of t he means to stay up-to-date, the most cost-efficient one is to talk with the elders anytime, they’d really like to be concerned with things just happened locally and internationally, and are energetic to share and discuss them with everyone contacted.（音频112）

注意：题目中的关键词在开头句回应题目的时候首先做了替换，换成了be kept informed。

（17）Should people be given X?

比如：Should children be required to wear a uniform to school?

答案：① 说明是否应该要求儿童穿校服 (是/否/有时候)；② 解释原因（校服的优点/缺点或者负面影响constrain creativity& imagination）。

Eg: Absolutely not.I firmly believe that students should have the f reedom to wear what they like to school.Meanwhile, I think it’s unfair to make children all look the same.You know, besides learning scientific knowledge, school should be th e p lace children learn to become independent individuals with their own styles, ideas and characteristics.Wearing the same outfits

would no rmally contribute to negat ive effects, like decreasing their learning interests and constraining their ability of creativity& imagination.（音频113）

注意：虽然没有直接说uniform 这个词，但是处处是它的同义表达。

（18）Is it difficult to do X?

比如：Is it difficult to learn another language?

答案：① 回答是否困难，并描述程度（yes/extremely difficult/the hardest）；② 解释原因/举例子/说细节 (large volume of vocabulary, difficult to memorize)。

Eg: I t hink learning a different language is ext remely d ifficult——probably one of the hardest things one can do.When you begin trying, it can be very confusing to remember lots of unfamiliar words and grammar.Furthermore, it often feel s a bit awkward and you have to get used to making mistakes.Onl y after a l ong period, ev erything tends to be much more comfortable and you can really start getting certain command of the new language.（音频114）

（19）Is X suitable for (types of people)?

比如：Are all outdoor sports suitable for people of all ages?

答案：① 分情况讨论；② 对人群按照年龄分类，介绍各个年龄段适合的运动，并解释原因。

Eg: It depends.Youngsters are wild about adventurous outdoor sports like rock-climbing, white water rafting and bungee jumping.These sports are unsuitable for elderly people or young kids because they can be really dangerous if you are not familiar with what you are doing.To be honest, ball games, swimming, and dancing could be much safer for them and such activities might be appropriate for all age groups.（音频115）
