八、连词

连词是一种虚词，用于连接单词、短语、从句或句子，在句子中不单独用作句子成分。连词按其性质可分为并列连词和从属连词。并列连词用于连接并列的单词、短语、从句或句子；从属连词主要连接各种从句。

1.并列连词

（1）表示并列关系 这类连词有：and，or，either...or，neither...nor，not only...but（also），both...and，as well as等。

例：Neither he nor I do like that movie.

他和我都不喜欢那部电影。

He made an error in spelling and I made the same error too.

他拼写错了，我也犯了同样的错误。

（2）表示转折关系 这类连词有：by contrast，although，though，yet，at the same time，but，despite，even so，nevertheless，even though，on the contrary，however，in spite of，on the other hand，otherwise，instead，still等。

例：What you said was true.It was，nevertheless，a little unkind.

你说得对，但还是不够仁义。

Even though he is 24 now，he is still like a little child.

虽然他已经24了，可他还是像个小孩子。

2.从属连词

（1）引导时间状语从句 这类连词有：when，while，as，whenever，before，after，as soon as，the moment，the minute，the second，the instant，immediately，directly，instantly，once，no sooner...than，hardly...when，every time，each time，（the）next time，any time，（the）last time，the first time等。

例：Tell him I need to see him the minute he arrives.

告诉他一到就来见我。

No sooner had he sat down than the phone rang.

他刚坐下电话就响了。

（2）引导条件状语从句 这类连词有：if，unless，as/so long as等。

例：You can go out to play as long as you stay in the backyard.

只要你不出后院，你可以在外面爱玩多久就玩多久。

Unless some extra money is found，the theater will close.

这个剧院要关门了，除非再集资一些钱。

（3）引导目的状语从句 这类连词有：in order that，so that，in case，for fear等。

例：She finally ran away for fear that he would kill her.

她最终还是跑了，因害怕他会杀她。

Write it down just in case you forget.

把它写下来，免得你忘了。

（4）引导原因状语从句 这类连词有：because，as，since，seeing（that），now（that），considering（that）等。

例：I won’t stay long，seeing that you are busy.

知道你很忙，我不会待很久的。

Now that we know each other a little better，we get along fine.

现在我们彼此更了解了，所以在一起很融洽。

（5）引导地点状语从句 这类连词有：where，wherever，everywhere，anywhere等。

例：Children will play wherever they happen to be.

孩子们走到哪儿玩儿到哪儿。

（6）引导让步状语从句 这类连词有：although，though，even though，even if，while，however，whatever，whoever，whenever等。

例：She is going to have problems finding a job even if she has a Ph.D.degree.

即便她有博士学位，找份工作还是会很困难。

Whatever I suggest，he always disagrees.

无论我提出什么建议他都反对。
