1. Since it’s the first deal between us, we won’t accept any other terms of payment except L/C.

2. Since the amount of our deal is very small, we are prepared to accept payment by D/P or D/A for the goods shipped.

3. Considering that you are an old client of ours, we can let you make the payment by usance L/C and pay the interest according to the rates on international monetary market. What do you think of it?

4. Payment by L/C involves additional expense for us and leaves us few profit margins.

5. We have persuaded our manufacturers to accept this order for an earlier shipment as requested by you, on condition that the covering L/C arrives here by the end of July.

6. We can certainly agree to D/P terms, but the international financial market fluctuates a great deal owing to the devaluation of US dollars and its effect on other currencies; therefore, we think it will be safer for us to handle the business on L/C basis.

7. With an eye to future transactions and trust established through the last business, I think we can make an exception for you this time.

8. We have made an exception to accept delivery against D/P at sight as your request. Please don’t take it as a precedent in future shipments.

9. We have received your L/C, but to our regret it contains the following discrepancies.

10. The shipment date is approaching. We must stress that we shall be unable to effect shipment within the stipulated time unless your L/C reaches us before June 20th.

11. Please extend the shipment date and the validity of your L/C to March 1st and March 15th respectively, so we can effect shipment of the goods within the time limit.

12. In order to avoid subsequent amendment, please make sure the L/C stipulations are in exact accordance with the terms of the contract.
