Part I Introduction

A cover letter is a document that accompanies your résumé. It is used to expand upon the highlighted information on your résumé and provide additional one qualifying you for the position.

A well written cover letter shows your ability in written communication. It can make a difference between getting a job interview and having your job hunting materials ignored. It is necessary that you devote time and effort to writing an effective and unique cover letter.

In the first paragraph, you need to state your reason for writing. It should include the position you apply for and where you get its information. If you know the position online, state the specific website. You can also open by referring to the company’s product, which shows you know the company.

In the second paragraph, you need to dwell on your skills and experience, which make you qualified for the position. It’s time to expand on the items in your résumé. If you have related work experience, you could use action verbs to describe your key accomplishments which are not available in your résumé. If you do not have much experience in the field you want to enter, you could focus on your skills with which you can deal with the job well. If you think you have other strength related with the position, you may develop another paragraph.

In the last paragraph, you need to request a chance for an interview. You may also take the initiative to follow up by writing “I will contact you in the next two weeks to see if you need any other information concerning my qualifications.” Finally, thank your reader for his (her) time and consideration.

When finishing your letter, you can ask for comments and suggestions from teachers or other competent learners to make sure your letter provides convincing information about yourself with accuracy and coherence.

求职信通常和简历附在一起发给潜在雇主。求职信应包含三方面的内容:说明信息来源并表示对某职位的兴趣;描述自己的资历,向潜在雇主表明自己有能力胜任这个职位;请求面试。
