Like any other noun，a gerund may be modified by an adjective;it may like any other verb，be modified by one or more adverbs，have a direct object，and have an indirect object．Therefore，a gerund phrase consists of the gerund，its modifiers(if any)，and its object or objects(if any)．A gerund phrase always functions as a noun．
