5.Prepositional Phrases介词短语
Another type of adjective—prepositional phrase—must be mentioned here.It consists of more than one word.
介词短语往往也能担当形容词功能,在句中起修饰和限定作用。
The pamphlet on my desk belongs to Roger.
The office across the hall is the President's suite.
The purchasing orders in the file are well classified.
First of all,you will notice that a prepositional phrase comes after the noun it describes.The second is that they always begin with a preposition.The third is that a noun that follows a preposition is never the subject of a sentence.Technically,the noun that follows a prepositionis called the object of the preposition.
