Chapter 1 Cradle of the Chinese Labor movement—Pingxiang

一、中国工人运动摇篮——萍乡

萍乡，地处湘赣边界，古之“吴楚通衢”，今之“赣西明珠”。萍乡是中国近代工业起始最早的城市之一，改革开放以来，经济快速发展，商贸繁荣，已成为江西重要工业城市之一。萍乡资源丰富，集历史、文化、自然、宗教与民俗风情为一体，萍乡安源是中国工人运动的发祥地和秋收起义的策源地，是中国革命的摇篮之一。在这里，革命斗争薪火相传，绵延不绝，留下了大量的红色历史遗迹与革命文物。其中，著名的有安源路矿工人俱乐部旧址、总平巷、谈判大楼、秋收起义军事会议旧址等。解放后，这里建成了安源路矿工人运动纪念馆，收藏革命文物8000余件。市内建有占地346亩的秋收起义广场，秋收起义纪念碑为标志性建筑，广场设有大型音乐喷泉和水幕电影，使得广场兼具革命传统教育和娱乐休闲的作用。

1. Cradle of the Chinese Labour movement—Pingxiang

Pingxiang, located in the border of Hunan Province and Jiangxi Province, is the “ thoroughfare of Wu and Chu Dynasties” in ancient times and the “Pearl of the West of Gan” in modern times. Pingxiang is one of the earliest cities in the beginning of modern industry in China. Since the reform and opening up, it has become one of the important industrial cities in Jiangxi with rapid economic development and prosperous business trade. Pingxiang is rich in resources, integrating with history, culture, nature, religion, and folk custom. Pingxiang Anyuan is the birthplace of the Chinese Workers’ Movement and the origin of the Autumn Harvest Uprising, and one of the cradles of the Chinese Revolution. Here, the revolutionary struggles have been passed on from generation to generation, and stretched continuously, leaving a large number of red historical relics and revolutionary cultural relics. Among them, the distinguished ones are, the former site of Anyuan Road and Mine Worker’ Club, General Roadway Site, Negotiation building, and the site of Autumn Harvest Uprising Military Conference and so on. After liberation, the Anyuan Road and Mine Workers’ Movement Memorial Hall was built here, collecting more than 8000 pieces of cultural relics. There is an autumn harvest uprising square covering an area of 346 acres in the city with its symbolic building, that is, the autumn harvest uprising monument. The square is equipped with a large-scale music fountain and a water curtain film, which makes the square play the role of revolutionary traditional education and entertainment.

二、政治经济文化中心——安源

安源，位于江西省西部、萍乡市中部，是萍乡市政治、经济、文化的中心。安源，是一块红色的土地，是一块英雄的土地，在中国近代史上曾经留下了浓墨重彩的一笔。安源是近代工业的开创地之一，是中国工人运动的摇篮，是湘赣边界秋收起义的主要爆发地之一，是中国共产党开拓的中国工人运动的发源地，是中国少年先锋队的诞生地，拥有丰富的红色文化与工业遗产。安源红色文化，主要包括以毛泽东、刘少奇、李立三等老一辈无产阶级革命家领导安源人民在长期斗争中形成的精神文化和物质文化。其精神文化是战争年代形成的革命传统，其核心是安源精神---义无反顾、团结奋斗、勇于开拓、敢为人先。安源精神是中国革命精神的萌芽。后来的一切革命精神，都可以在安源精神那里找到它们的渊源和有机联系。自安源精神产生后,中国革命精神在革命的峥嵘岁月中不断丰富和发展，历经井冈精神、苏区精神、长征精神到延安精神，然后发展到西柏坡精神;物质文化则包括反映革命史实的遗址、实物、纪念馆、烈士陵园等，如举世闻名的安源路矿工人运动纪念馆、秋收起义纪念碑、安源路矿工人补习夜校旧址、秋收起义军事会议旧址、总平巷旧址、萍乡烈士陵园等。

2. Political, economic, and cultural center---Anyuan

Anyuan, located in the west of Jiangxi Province and the middle of Pingxiang City, is the political, economic and cultural center of Pingxiang City. An yuan, is a piece of red land, a piece of heroic land, once left a thick ink in the modern history of China. Anyuan is one of the pioneer places of modern industry, the cradle of the Chinese workers' movement, one of the main exploding places of the Autumn Harvest Uprising along the border of Hunan and Jiangxi, the birthplace of the Chinese workers' movement pioneered by the Communist Party of China, and the birth of the Chinese youth pioneer Place, with rich red culture and industrial heritage. Anyuan red culture mainly includes the spiritual culture and material culture formed by the older generation of proletarian revolutionaries such as Mao Zedong, Liu Shaoqi and Li Lisan in the long-term struggle. Its spiritual culture is the revolutionary tradition formed in the war years, and its core is the Anyuan spirit---unity and struggle, courage to open up, and dare to be the first. The spirit of Anyuan spirit is the seed of Chinese revolutionary spirit. All the later revolutionary spirits can find their origin and organic connection in the Anyuan spirit. Since the emergence of Anyuan spirit, the Chinese revolutionary spirit has been enriched and developed continuously in the extraordinary years of the revolution, going through Jing Gangshan spirit, Soviet area spirit, long march spirit to Yan 'an spirit, and then developed to Xi Baipo spirit. The material culture includes sites reflecting the historical facts of the revolution, objects, memorials, mausoleums,etc.,such as the world-famous Anyuan Coal Miner‘s Memorial Hall, the Autumn Harvest Uprising Monument, the Anyuan Road Mine Workers tutorial Night School site, The site of the Autumn Harvest Uprising Military Conference, the General Roadway site, Pingxiang Revolutionary Martyrs Mausoleum, etc.
