转基因食品(genetically modified foods)是通过基因工程的方法对生物体的DNA作特定改变并由此产出的食品。这些技术允许引入新的作物性状,对于食物基因结构的掌控也比之前的方法,如选择性育种、诱变育种(mutationbreeding)大。中国已经成为世界上最大的大豆(soybean)进口国,购买60%的全球交易大豆。这些进口大豆大部分是转基因品种。在中国,有对关于转基因食品的激烈的公开辩论。
