2.Gathering Pebbles

A long time ago

When I was young,

I used to spend my time playing with pebbles,

All by myself,whenever the wind came up,

All by myself,up on the mountainsides,

All by myself,down in the alleys of the village.

During the third month,I was stung by midges,

During the fourth month,I was bitten up by mosquitoes,

A cloud of midges and mosquitoes,

Bit me all over.

I had no food to eat and no rags to wear,

My clothes were like the paper money burnt for ancestors,

I was much poorer than you were!
