一、形容词的比较级和最高级（1）

I think the countryside is quieter than the city.

我认为乡村比城市更宁静。

The pigs must be the fattest and laziest animals on the farm.

猪是农场里最胖最懒的动物。

"adj-er;adj-est"分别是形容词的比较级和最高级的基本表达式。

形容词的比较级和最高级的作用：用于做比较。

比较级和最高级有规则变化和不规则变化两种。

(1)规则变化:

1.单音节词和少数双音节词，加词尾-er, -est来构成较级和最高级。

如:fast–faster–fastest  high – higher – highest

2.以字母 e 结尾加–r 或–st   

如:fine–finer–finest  late–later–latest

3.重读闭音节、末尾只有一个辅音字母时双写加 –er 或 –est

如:fat – fatter – fattest   big – bigger – biggest 

4.以辅音字母加 y 结尾变 y为 i 加–er 或–est

如: early–earlier–earliest  easy–easier–easiest   

(2)常见的不规则变化:

1.good/well–better–best ; many/much–more–most 

little–less–least ; bad/badly/ill–worse–worst 

2.三音节，多音节和+ly的副词比较级和最高级用more/the most

popular - more  delicious - most delicious

slowly - more slowly - most slowly
