西安碑林博物馆位于西安市内三学街，因碑石林立而得名，创建于北宋元祐二年，是一座以收藏、研究和陈列历代碑石、墓志及石刻造像为主的艺术博物馆。

馆内收藏有汉、魏、唐、宋、元、明、清诸朝代的碑碣，约3 000件，分列在7个陈列室、7个游廊和1个碑亭内。

西安碑林博物馆占地面积为3万多平方米，陈列内容分为“西安碑林”和“石刻艺术”两大部分。此外，馆内还经常举办各种专题文物展览。

The Forest of Stone Tablets Museum is si－tuated in Sanxue Street.The Museum was set up in the 2nd year of Emperor Yuanyou's reign in the Song Dynasty.It is an art treasure house containing the largest and richest collection of the stone tablets of ancient China.

Around 3 000 tablets have been collected and erected here in the Xi'an Forest of Stone Steles.The tablets include those from the Han，the Wei，the Tang，the Song，the Yuan，the Ming，and the Qing Dynasties.They are displayed in seven exhibition halls，seven corridors and a tablet tower.

The Forest of Stone Tablets Museum covers an area of about 30 000 square meters.Its exhibits can be divided into two categories：stone tablets and stone sculptures.In addition，special exhibitions are often held in the museum.
