Of all the 270,724 practitioners engaged by financial companies in Shanghai,135,242 work for banks,accounting for 49.96%,nearly half and the largest proportion.The second largest group is insurance practitioners:61,752,accounting for 22.81%the total employees.The third largest group was 29,208 practitioners working for securities companies,accounting for 1/10 of the total(see Figure 19).

While the total employees of banking,insurance and securities companies account for 83.56%of the total financial workforce in Shanghai,other subsectors of financial companies have relatively smaller shares.Among them,six subsectors hire 1%~10%of the total workforce:fund 2.71%,markets 2.3%,financial leasing 2.28%,futures 2.15%,third-party payment 2.05%and asset management 1.78%.

Meanwhile,there are 7 other subsectors of which each accounts for less than 1%of the total workforce:pawn 0.8%;micro-lending 0.63%;financing guarantee 0.28%;factoring 0.27%;financial leasing 0.19%; trust 0.6%;and group finance 0.42%.

Of all 227,352 employees,banks hire 120,032;insurance companies 37,962;securities companies 27,164;fund companies 7,104;financing leasing companies 5,866;markets companies 5,788;futures companies 5,682;payment companies 5,301;asset management companies 4,487;pawn companies 1,913;micro-lending companies 1,587;trust companies 1,491;group finance companies 1,079;factoring companies 717;financing guarantee companies 708;and financial leasing companies 471.

Of all the 16 financial subsectors,banks hire the most employees as a percentage of the total workforce(88.75%)while insurance companies have the lowest percentage(61.47%)(see Figure 20).
