From the academic perspective,highly educated practitioners represent a large proportion of the total financial workforce in Shanghai.77.02%of the financial company employees have a bachelor’s degree or higher:57.36%,or more than half,have a bachelor’s degree;18.82%have a master’s degree;and 0.84%have a doctoral degree.On the other hand,employees having a junior college background accounted for 17.04%,and those with only secondary vocational,high school or lower education background accounted for 5.95%(see Figure 15).

Among the total financial company employees,15,679 have overseas academic background,including 3,805 returning from overseas undergraduate programs,accounting for 24.27%;11,677 from overseas master’s degree programs,accounting for 74.48%; 197 from overseas doctoral programs,accounting for 1.26%(see Figure 16).
