According to the data reported by the 1,917 responding financial companies,the total number of practitioners engaged in financial activities in Shanghai as of June 30,2015 is 270,724(see Figure 6).Among them,129,563 are male and 141,161 are female,accounting for 47.86%and 52.14%respectively(see Figure 7).

In terms of geographic distribution,Pudong New Area has the largest number of financial practitioners.There are 859 financial companies operating in Pudong New Area using a total of 181,854 practitioners,accounting for 67.17%of the total number of financial practitioners in the city.Huangpu District has 186 companies which use 42,095 practitioners,126 companies in Hongkou District use 11,496 practitioners,83 companies in Jing’an District use 11,307 practitioners,and 127 companies in Xuhui District use 8,196 practitioners,109 companies in Changning District use 5,009 practitioners.Among them,Jing’an District ranks No.6 in terms of operating financial companies(fewer than 100 companies),but it ranks No.4 in terms of the financial service workforce(with more than 10,000 practitioners)(see Figure 8).
