Many years ago， when I listened to a CD named “Leisure and Fairyland”， I was intoxicated by the beautiful piano melody and fascinated by the warm and idyllic ambience created by the music. Many years later， when by chance I stayed at this four-star rated hotel by the Yangtze River， I suddenly had the same feeling.

In the seren garden， the trees are of various species and different heights， and the lawn is emerald green. Several magnolias are infusing the air with an intoxicating fragrance. A handsome bronze bull statue welcomes guests at the entry of the hotel lobby. Stepping in， one will notice a piece of calligraphy on the wall， which was written by the famous calligrapher Zhou Huijun. It says， “Along hundreds of miles， the warblers are singing in the green trees and red flowers. In the villages， by mountains or rivers the flags of taverns and inns are flying in the sky. Hundreds of temples were built in the Nan Dynasty， with so many towers and platforms left in the misty rain.” Though this hotel is in a city foreign to me， I had the feeling of coming back home. Perhaps this was the place where my heart had longed to be. From the window， the rays of the setting sun fell on the surface of the wide river and the busy wharfs were becoming quieter. In the distance， I heard the river water beating against the shore. The serene atmosphere made my heart peaceful.

Through the lobby， you can savor classic Shanghai cuisine in the Old Shanghai Restaurant and appreciate the charm of old Shanghai in the 1930s. In the Relax Bar， you can sit in the comfortable sofa， taste the wines and listen to the music of the saxophone. The unforgettably delicious food will bring you inner-peace and relieve your homesickness. Or on a peaceful afternoon， while the sunlight is flowing through the window like water in a stream， you may wish to do nothing but simply sitting in a cane chair in the Ming Garden， listening to the birds singing and watching the fish swimming in the clear pond. The light aroma of fine tea and the rich bouquet of coffee mix with each other and saturate the air with a wonderful fragrance.

Along the corridor and up the stairs， you will find the Weider-Tera Gym Center. There you can do some exercises in the sunshine， or swim in the clear blue pool， as free as fish in the river or birds in the sky.

When time has left its mark and filled your heart with worries， you might be longing for a new life experience. Let the smiling faces and gentle greetings blow away the last wisp of loneliness you have when you are alone in an alien city.

Delighting in a certain place depends on two factors: our desires and the charm of that particular place. Faraway places can be more beautiful and this could make our love for somewhere other than our home last even longer. The hotel， with views of the river and the setting sun， makes me renew the cherished feeling that Shanghai is my home.
