Jia Jia may appear as a plain restaurant of modest size, but they make the best Tang Bao, which are steamed buns with juicy and savory sauces fillings. The buns are fresh made on order.

This busy restaurant severs authentic Hunan style rice noodle soup at very reasonable price. Unlike the commonly known GuiLing rice noodle, the noodles here are flat and a bit chewy.

This dish is one of the most famous buns in China, it has two hundred years of history. The buns made here features paper-thin skin that is almost transparent. A good portion of soup is encaged. The soup is made with selected large river crabs from Yang Cheng Lake, fresh pork skin and hen, it tastes light but not bland, tasty yet not greasy, and leaves a burst of rich savory flavor on your tongue.


To eat a Tang Bao, be careful with the steaming hot soup inside. Make a small opening on the top, slowly sip the soup that spills out, and eat the dough last. Complete the meal with a bowl of barley porridge and preserved vegetables.
