背景：这首歌是电影《阿甘正传》的主题曲，由Scott Mckenzie演唱，另外还有一抽插曲《南加州不下雨》后面将会介绍到。歌词中有一句people in motion，根据字面意思，是人们在运动，很符合电影里众人随着阿甘奔跑的场景，也仿佛也在诉说整个美国掀起的一场变革之风。

Scott Mckenzie（1939-2012），美国歌手，歌曲作家。

关于《San Francisco》：1967年6月16日-18日在蒙特利尔举行的《Summer of Love》流行音乐节由Mckenzie的挚友Phillips负责编写主题曲。据说他只用不过1小时就灵感突现，写曲成功，并交予Scott Mckenzie演唱。这首歌在蒙特利尔国际流行音乐节（Monterey International Pop Festival）上一举成功，后来被当做《阿甘正传》的插曲而被广为传唱。
