这首歌最早由Skeeter Davis演唱，是电影《移魂女郎》（GIRL INTERUPTED）的插曲，薇诺娜·瑞德主演的电影，讲述了几个有精神问题的少女的故事，年轻的安吉丽娜·朱莉在里面饰演一个有反社会人格的少女。在其中一个少女自杀前，唱片机里一遍遍地播放这首歌，让人心碎。
